I faced a life-threatening calamity, was rushed to the ICU unit, had emergency surgery, survived the surgery,\u201d Jakes said in the video.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy\">In a shocking moment during his Sunday sermon on November 24, which was captured on video, Jakes could be seen lowering his microphone and shaking in his seat before people around him rushed to his aid.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy\">In a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DCxB9l0P7p6\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>statement<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0shortly afterward, the church said Jakes \u201cexperienced a slight health incident and received immediate medical attention following his powerful hour-long message.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy\">In the video message Sunday, Jakes said he is now recovering from his ordeal and expressed his gratitude to be alive and healing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy\">\u201cI\u2019m grateful to God for his goodness and his mercy, and to not just our local church, but to the global community that follows this ministry,\u201d Jakes said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy\">Jakes did not share details of his diagnosis, but said in a\u00a0<a class=\"zZygg UbGlr iFzkS qdXbA WCDhQ DbOXS tqUtK GpWVU iJYzE\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BishopJakes\/status\/1861896877119001079\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-testid=\"prism-linkbase\"><strong>post on X<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0he is thankful he did not have a stroke, noting the \u201cevent could\u2019ve been fatal if it weren\u2019t for God\u2019s intervention.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy\">\u201cA special thank you to God and the medical professionals in our city whose speed and expertise were beyond exceptional,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC eTIW sUzSN\">Jakes founded the 30,000-member megachurch in southern Dallas, Texas, in 1996.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2024, ABC Audio.
