Students at Yale University will soon be given the opportunity to take an Ivy League deep-dive into the impact of\u00a0Beyonc\u00e9<\/a>, whose\u00a0Cowboy Carter<\/em>\u00a0just bagged\u00a011 Grammy nominations<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In a recent\u00a0Yale News<\/em>\u00a0piece<\/a>, Professor Daphne Brooks was quoted as saying the course is timely due to the 32-time Grammy winner currently being\u00a0\u201cj<\/em>ust so ripe for teaching.\u201d Per Brooks, who previously taught a broader course at Princeton that touched on Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s work, prospective enrollees can expect to take an educational journey through Bey\u2019s work stretching from 2013, the year she released her \u201cDrunk in Love\u201d-featuring self-titled album, through the present\u00a0Cowboy Carter<\/em>\u00a0era.<\/p>\n

Visual album screenings, discussions on complementary works from various scholars, playlist crafting with the goal of linking key Bey discography moments to her predecessors, and more will all be part of the headlines-ready course.\"\"<\/p>\n

\u201cThe number of breakthroughs and innovations she\u2019s executed and the way she\u2019s interwoven history and politics and really granular engagements with Black cultural life into her performance aesthetics and her utilization of her voice as a portal to think about history and politics \u2014 there\u2019s just no one like her,\u201d\u00a0Brooks said<\/a>.<\/p>\n
