He kept \u2018jazz hours\u2019 starting in high school and never looked back,\u201d she began. \u201cWhen I was little, I would wake up in the middle of the night to search for him. Undoubtedly, he would be somewhere in the house, composing (old school, with a pen and sheet music). He would never send me back to bed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy\">\u201cHe would smile and bring me into his arms while he continued to work\u2026there was no safer place in the world for me,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy\">Rashida Jones, who co-directed and co-wrote the 2018 documentary\u00a0<em>Quincy<\/em>\u00a0about her father, called him \u201ca giant,\u201d \u201can icon,\u201d \u201ca culture shifter\u201d and \u201ca genius,\u201d adding that music and all he created were \u201ca channel for his love.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy\">\u201cHe WAS love. He made everyone he ever met feel loved and seen. That\u2019s his legacy,\u201d she wrote. \u201cI was fortunate enough to experience this love in close proximity. I\u2019ll miss his hugs and kisses and unconditional devotion and advice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy\">She added, \u201cDaddy, it is an honor to be your daughter. Your love lives forever.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy\">Quincy Jones was dad to seven children during his lifetime, sharing Rashida Jones with ex-wife\u00a0<strong>Peggy Lipton<\/strong>.
